KANGAR, 2 August 2025 — The Women of Sunnah Seminar, jointly organised by the Perlis State Mufti Department in collaboration with Light Upon Light and sponsored by the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs), was successfully held at the Banquet Hall, Perlis State Assembly Complex. The event attracted more than 400 women participants from Perlis and beyond.
Her Royal Highness Tuanku Dr. Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, The Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, graced the occasion, bringing royal honour and distinction to the programme.
Carrying the theme “Men and Women Are the Awliya’ of Each Other”, the seminar featured internationally respected scholar and educator, Dr. Shaikha Haifaa Younis, founder of the Jannah Institute, as the keynote speaker. Dr. Haifaa delivered an insightful lecture on the Qur’anic concept of mutual guardianship and support between men and women, emphasising the shared responsibilities in nurturing a just and balanced society.
Also in attendance were the Wife of the Mufti of Perlis, the Wife of the Right Honourable Chief Minister of Perlis, the Wife of the State Secretary, female members of the State Executive Council, wives of EXCO members, as well as invited guests and representatives from various women’s organisations.
Participants lauded the seminar for its spiritually enriching content, empowering message, and engaging delivery. One attendee shared, “This seminar was a timely reminder of our worth as Muslim women and our roles as mutual supporters in faith and community.”
The seminar concluded with a heartfelt closing address by the Mufti of Perlis, Sahibus Samahah Prof. Dato' Arif Perkasa Dr. Mohd Asri bin Zainul Abidin. In his remarks, he expressed gratitude to Her Royal Highness, the dignitaries, organisers, Dr. Haifaa and her team, as well as the volunteers and participants for their contributions towards the success of the event.
