The Ruling On Performing Friday Prayer In Locations Other Than Mosques

THE 75TH MEETING OF THE PERLIS STATE FATWA COMMITTEE / 2025
25–26 AUGUST 2025 / 1-2 RABIULAWAL 1447
THE RULING ON PERFORMING FRIDAY PRAYER IN LOCATIONS OTHER THAN MOSQUES
Friday Prayer is originally performed within a mosque; however, it may be performed at a location other than a mosque — whether in a building or an open space — where there exists a need to do so. This includes situations such as where the mosque is still under construction, where there is a specific danger in performing the prayer within the mosque, or where there is difficulty to reach the mosque.
However, the performance of Friday Prayer at a location other than a mosque shall require the authorisation of the ruling authority, in order to prevent dispute and division within the community.
