Fatwa Relating To Representative Hajj And Paid Hajj Services

THE 75TH MEETING OF THE PERLIS STATE FATWA COMMITTEE / 2025

25–26 AUGUST 2025 / 1-2 RABIULAWAL 1447

FATWA RELATING TO REPRESENTATIVE HAJJ AND PAID HAJJ SERVICES

Representative hajj and paid hajj services may not be commercialised through the dissemination of advertisements to the general public. Offering proxy hajj services on a commercial basis leads to deception and manipulation of public funds. Therefore, such practices must be prevented and stopped by the authorities. However, a person may request an individual who is trustworthy, who understands the rulings of hajj, and who has obtained a hajj permit or visa, to perform hajj on his behalf or on behalf of another person. That individual must already have performed the obligatory hajj for himself and may not performproxy hajj  for more than one person in a single hajj season. In the present circumstances, it is extremely difficult to obtain a hajj quota to perform hajj on behalf of others, in addition to the considerably high cost of hajj.
