NUMBER OF TAKBIRS IN EID PRAYER
It is permissible to perform seven takbirs in the first rak'ah including the Takbiratul Ihram and five takbirs in the second rak'ah excluding the transitional takbirs (intiqālāt), in accordance with the view of Ibn ‘Abbās and ‘Umar bin ‘Abdul ‘Aziz as reported by Ibn Abī Shaybah in al-Muṣannaf. This position aligns with the schools of Mālik and Aḥmad.
It is also permissible to perform seven takbirs in the first rak'ah after the Takbiratul Ihram and five takbirs after the transitional takbir, following the Shāfi‘ī school. Both practices represent valid scholarly disagreements.
