Broadcasting Quranic Recitation In Public Places
THE 36TH MEETING OF THE PERLIS STATE FATWA COMMITTEE / 2018
23-24 JULY 2018
BROADCASTING QURANIC RECITATION IN PUBLIC PLACES
The Quran is the Word of Allah revealed as guidance for mankind. Allah the Almighty says:
كِتَابٌ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ لِيَدَّبَّرُوا آيَاتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُولُو الْأَلْبَابِ
Translation: "A Book We have sent down to you, full of blessings, that they may ponder over its Verses, and that those endowed with understanding may take heed." (Surah Sad: 29)
Therefore, the Quran should be recited, listened to and comprehended for implementation in life. Broadcasting Quranic recitation in public areas including food stalls, restaurants, schools, and similar places under circumstances that cause the Quran to be neglected and disrespected and may give the perception of diminishing the sanctity of the Quran, is a prohibited action.
