THE RATE OF FIDYAH (EXPIATION) FOR ABANDONING RAMADAN FASTING IN THE STATE OF PERLIS

The Fatwa Committee of the State of Perlis agreed that it is not obligatory to multiply the fidyah even if it involves the passing of years.
The current rate of fidyah for abandoning fasting in the State of Perlis that has been agreed upon is RM 5.00 per day of fasting. This rate is based on one meal serving.
Fidyah may also be fulfilled in the form of hosting a feast for the poor and needy or giving them food directly with the stated value.
Whoever voluntarily wishes to pay more than the obligatory fidyah rate, it constitutes a commendable practice.
