FATWA CONCERNING THE AHMADI TEACHING OR THE AHMADI RELIGION OF PEACE AND LIGHT

The Ahmadi teaching refers to the group or doctrine known as The Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light, which propagates deviant and even heretical claims, including:

1. That the Mahdī whom they believe in will alter, augment, replace, and supersede the Islamic law (sharīʿah) of the Prophet Muḥammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

2. The claim that the existing Qurʾān is incomplete.

3. The claim that there exists another creator who is imperfect yet governs and administers the universe.

4. The claim that the five daily prayers constitute nothing more than prostration and submission to the Messenger and the Imam of their respective era.

5. Permitting matters that are definitively and clearly prohibited in Islam, such as intoxicating drinks.

6. The claim that Prophet Isa AS was crucified to expiate the sins of mankind only in his time, and likewise that al-Husain who was sacrificed in Karbala was for the purpose of expiating the sins of mankind in his time.

7. The claim that the true Kaʿbah is located in Petra, Jordan.

Any Muslim who believes in the Ahmadi teaching is deemed to have gone astray and has in fact apostatised from Islam. Among the legal implications are that his or her marriage to a Muslim man or woman is dissolved, he or she may not act as a guardian (wali) in marriage, does not inherit the estate of Muslims, his or her slaughtered animals are not lawful to eat, and he or she is not to be buried in a Muslim cemetery.
