The Ruling On Using Objects Shaped Like Crosses Or Other Religious Symbols

THE RULING ON USING OBJECTS SHAPED LIKE CROSSES OR OTHER RELIGIOUS SYMBOLS
1. A cross shape made by any party with the intention of it being a cross carries the ruling of a cross, namely, it is prohibited for a Muslim to use or wear it.
2. A shape that clearly appears as a cross in terms of its position and manner of use—even if its purpose as a cross is not stated—also carries the ruling of a cross.
3. A form that could be presumed or coincidentally resembles a cross whereas it is not intended to be a cross such as the letter 't', the plus sign (+), a crossroads, a four-petaled flower, construction timber, carpentry tools and the like are not ruled as a cross. It is not prohibited to use them.
4. If a person avoids any shapes that could be presumed to resemble a cross for himself, it is something good provided that he does not burden others.
