FATWA CONCERNING WRITINGS THAT CORRUPT THE CREED

After examining the writings on the Facebook account named Asiah Abd Jalil, the Perlis State Fatwa Committee has found that some of her statements contain clear errors that contradict the creed. This is because they contain the following matters:

1. Insulting, belittling and ridiculing the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). This includes her statement that the Prophet Muhammad (pPeace Be Upon Him) is not the best example to be emulated in household matters. For instance, she stated:

i. “I speak plainly to my husband: in household matters, do not take the Prophet as an example. I do not desire a husband with such character. Many things the Prophet did to his wives—I do not agree with them, and I do not like them.”

ii. “After Khadijah's death, the Prophet married Saudah, who was already old, to care for the Prophet's young children. Several years later, the Prophet married Aishah, who was still a virgin, young, and far more beautiful. By this time, the Prophet's children were grown. Thus, he no longer desired Saudah. When the Prophet intended to divorce Saudah, she felt great sorrow. Saudah then made an agreement with the Prophet to relinquish all her rights as a wife, including conjugal rights, on condition that she not be divorced.”

2. Contradicting clear and explicit textual evidence and consensus (ijma') that paradise is only for those who die in a state of faith in Allah and His Messengers.

For instance, she stated:

"The most illogical teaching of the religious teacher is that paradise is only for Muslims alone. If this understanding is truly correct, then it greatly contradicts the attributes of Rahman (Most Gracious) and Rahim (Most Merciful) of Allah the Almighty".

If the aforementioned writer writes the above statements in a state of sanity, consciousness, knowing the error of such matters from the perspective of creed and refuses to repent after being admonished, then such action may corrupt her creed.

Therefore, it is impermissible for any Muslim to support any statement that corrupts the creed by providing positive engagement whether by giving supportive comments, placing a like, or sharing while being pleased with her writings, as that may corrupt one's creed.

As for the punishment for offences against the creed, it is the responsibility of the Ulil Amri (governing authority) and not the general public.
